Jax at Trailhead

It was 2004 when Jacquie had her first ride on an ATV and she was hooked.  That first ride was as a passenger, the second she went solo, and shortly after that she bought her first ATV for her son and herself to share.  It didn’t take long for both of them to outgrow that one, and soon they each had their own bigger, better quads.

After riding for a few years and buying her first brand new 4x4 ATV in 2007 she realized that technical trails were her thing.  She loved the challenge of overcoming obstacles, squeezing through trees, climbing rocks and chasing her riding buddies through the tight twisty trails. And still does!

She loved it so much, and made so many new friends with the same passion, that she and a fellow enthusiast decided to start an ATV club whose main focus was to save trails and work with other groups to keep riding areas and all levels of trails open and accessible.  As a founder of the club she held the positions of Secretary and Treasurer to get things going and then became President five months in, when her co-founder had to step down.  She presided over the club for its first 4 years during which time the club collaborated with other local and provincial clubs as well as government agencies to play a paramount role in the planning and building of two staging areas for motorized recreation in the Chilliwack Natural Resource District.

One downside Jacquie did find to ATVing, is accidents.  She saw many in her first few years of riding, and had one or two herself.  In 2010 she became aware of the CSC ATV Rider Course and her and the rest of the club executive, along with several members, took the course.  It was one they all found beneficial regardless of their various skill levels and years of riding.

A year or so later, she had the opportunity to become a certified Canada Safety Council ATV and UTV Safety Instructor.  It was an opportunity she readily accepted.  Her philosophy is, if she can save one person, or prevent one accident by providing this training, than it is all worth it.  She is thrilled to be able to share her passion with both other recreational riders and UTV drivers and those that ride or drive them on the job.
